ATIC Public Meeting on High-technology Policy Activities
(February 16, 2006)

The ATIC Public Meeting held on Thursday, February 16 focused on all the high-technology policy activities underway in Arizona with a distinguished array of invited speakers moderated by Mike Keeling, President of Data Site Consortium and ATIC Chair. Our most popular program, now in its third year, was held from 2:00-4:00 PM as a free live event and teleconference from the offices of Lewis & Roca in downtown Phoenix with remote audio conferencing courtesy of Cox Business Services.

ATIC Public Meeting on Cyber Security Issues
(April 20, 2006)

The ATIC Public Meeting held on Thursday, April 20 featured Mike Keeling, President of Data Site Consortium and ATIC Chair, who provided a summary of the legislative bills that are in process or have passed during this session that relate to cyber security issues and gave his take on the overall subject of cybercrime-related legislation. After Mike's summary, there was a general discussion and question & answer session among the attendees about the various bills and the general topic of legislative attention to evolving cybercrime issues. ATIC/GCIT CIAC Public Meeting on Right of Way (ROW)
(June 22, 2006)

The Arizona Telecommunications and Information Council (ATIC) and Governor's Council on Innovation and Technology's (GCIT) Communications Infrastructure Advisory Committee (CIAC) held a Public Meeting on Thursday, June 22 concerning Right of Way (ROW) issues moderated by Mark Goldstein, President, International Research Center & ATIC Secretary. Chris Cummiskey, Chief Information Officer of the State of Arizona and Director of the Arizona Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) gave an introduction of GCIT/CIAC, its goals and the role of its task groups followed by panel presentations on respective ROW issues by:

ATIC-CCEC Arizona Corporation Commission Debate
(October 4, 2006)

The Arizona Telecommunications & Information Council (ATIC) and the Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission (CCEC) held an Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) Debate moderated by Mark Goldstein, President, International Research Center and ATIC Secretary on Thursdady, October 4 live at the Arizona Corporate Broadcast Center (AZCBC) in Phoenix, AZ and Webcast by Modavox. The candidates debated important issues and decisions that impact cost and availability of utilities, public safety, quality of life, and Arizona's businesses and economic development. A candidate reception followed the debate.

 

ATIC Public Meeting on Cyber Security Risks
(November 16, 2006)

The ATIC Public Meeting held on Thursday, November 16 focused on the Top Ten Cyber Security risks that corporations faced in 2006 with Dr. Chris Pearson of Lewis & Roca. Included among the topics were updates on identity theft, privacy matters, domain name hijacking, hacking and extortion threats, and traditional insider threats to corporations. Attendees were able to read real e-mail messages from hackers and extortionists, see behind the scenes images of data breaches and identity theft rings, and hear the stories of crimes targeting companies and financial networks. This presentation also provided an update on several federal laws that are just recently being enforced and how companies can comply with these laws. Dr. Pearson established Lewis & Roca's Cybersecurity & Cyberliability practice area and is an attorney in the firm's Intellectual Property and Technology practice group. The meeting was produced by ATIC's Cyber Security Committee.
