Gubernatorial Candidates Breakfast Forum
Arizona Telecommunications & Information Council (ATIC), East Valley Partnership (EVP), and Salt River Project Political Involvement Committee (SRP PIC) held a free, non-partisan Gubernatorial Candidates Breakfast Forum before a live audience of several hundred on Thursday, October 17, 2002 at Mesa Community College. The attendees were welcomed by Dr. Larry Christiansen, President of Mesa Community College followed by Richard de Uriarte of the Arizona Republic who moderated the rest of the event.
Dr. Mike Newcomb made a statement on behalf of Janet Napolitano (D), who could not attend in person. Then a distinguished panel consisting of Dr. Charles Backus, Provost of ASU East and President of EVP, John Kelly, Intel Corporation and Chairman of ATIC, and Gena Trimble, SRP Political Involvement Committee posed a series of questions on critical issues facing Arizona to candidates Matt Salmon (R) and Richard Mahoney (I), followed by audience Q & A.
